DNA - The Molecule of Life
Chapter 12 focuses on DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). Simply put, DNA, is responsible for all life on Earth. DNA is the molecule that carries the genetic code of every living thing. It is the molecule that carries the "instructions" for all of the characteristics of a living thing.
In this chapter we will first look at some of the history related to DNA ..... How did scientists discover that DNA was actually the molecule that carried hereditary information? From there, we will look at the important discoveries that led to our knowledge of the structure of DNA. Finally, we will look at the process whereby DNA copies itself. This process, DNA Replication, is what allows your cells to pass on copies of your genetic information from cell to cell, and from generation to generation. |
