THe Science of Biology |
Chapter One gives us an overview of science in general, and Biology in particular. Section one considers what science is..... and what it is not. We also look at what science is attempting to accomplish, as well as the process of science itself - The Scientific Method. Section two covers a range of issues including the attributes of a scientific mind, what science provides society and how science is shared. Another important topic in section two is differentiating between the terms Fact, Hypothesis, Theory, Law..... most people do not actually understand what these terms mean. Finally, Section three looks at Biology more specifically and asks the question - What does it mean to be "alive?" What are the characteristics that all living things share? The chapter concludes by looking at the major topics and ideas we will study in Biology.
