This Chapter focuses on maps. In Earth Science, there are many instances when you need the ability to access information from various types of maps. Understanding the vocabulary associated with maps, understanding the different types of maps, understanding the pros and cons of various maps, understanding the processes used in producing maps - these are areas of information that can help form a better foundation in using these tools to understand the world around us.`Even though it might seem like the concept of a "map" is outdated and obsolete, there are probably more applications and uses for mapping today than at any point in the history of the world.
